About Ayşenur Özkan – Turkish Math Tutor
Hello! I’m Ayşenur Özkan, a mathematics teacher with 10+ years of experience helping Turkish students succeed at every level – from middle school math through university entrance exams and international tests like the Digital SAT and AP.

Teaching Philosophy
I believe that most students labeled as “bad at math” are actually students who were taught math badly. Mathematics is not about memorizing formulas or speed tricks – it’s about developing clear thinking, pattern recognition, and the patience to work through problems systematically.
Every student I work with learns math in a way that builds real understanding. Not just to pass a test (though my students do pass their tests), but to develop the analytical mindset that helps them throughout life – in college, in careers, and in everyday problem-solving.
What Makes My Approach Different
Bilingual Math Instruction
I teach primarily in Turkish but seamlessly incorporate English mathematical terminology. This dual-language approach is especially powerful for Turkish students in the US, Europe, and other English-speaking environments. Students learn concepts deeply in their native language, then build confidence with English terms used in SAT, AP, IGCSE, and A-Level exams.
Individualized Programs
I don’t follow a rigid curriculum. Every student has different strengths, gaps, goals, and schedules. In the first session, we identify where the student is and where they want to go, then I design a custom plan. This is why my students progress faster than in group or class settings.
Parental Communication
I maintain regular communication with parents through WhatsApp and periodic detailed progress reports. You’ll always know how your child is doing, what they’re working on, and where they stand. No surprises.
Technology-Enabled Learning
I use Zoom, digital whiteboards, PDF problem banks, and screen sharing to make online lessons as effective as in-person tutoring – often more effective, because everything is searchable, recordable, and reviewable after class.
Who I Work With
Over the past decade, I’ve tutored hundreds of students across many situations:
- Students in Turkey preparing for LGS (high school entrance) and YKS (university entrance)
- Turkish students in the US preparing for Digital SAT and AP math courses
- Turkish families in Europe navigating IGCSE, A-Level, Abitur, and other curricula
- Heritage speakers abroad reconnecting with Turkish mathematical tradition
- Adult learners preparing for KPSS, GRE, or returning to academic study
Every student gets my full attention, personalized curriculum, and direct, honest feedback.
Current Base and Future Plans
I’m currently based in Adana, Turkey, where I run my tutoring practice from our Cemalpaşa office. I teach students both in person (for local Adana students) and online (for everyone else – globally).
In the coming months, I’ll be relocating to the United States. This transition will make the time zones even more convenient for my US-based students, and it allows me to be closer to the American education system my international students are navigating.
Ready to Work Together?
The first lesson is free. It’s a 30-45 minute session where we assess your or your child’s current level, discuss goals, and I propose a realistic plan. No obligation, no pressure.
